Programming: CP removal, remote or at your dealer

Component Protection (CP)

Since model year 2017 every Audi cluster is married to the car's gateway. A cluster moved to another car powers on, shows SAFE CP in the centre and blocks most functions until CP is removed. Removal needs ODIS with a live connection to Audi's servers, which means an Audi dealer or an independent with an online ODIS licence. It cannot be done with VCDS, OBDeleven or a bench tool.

SFD on 2020+ cars

A6, A7 and A8 from 2020 on, and the Q7 / Q8 facelift, add Schutz Fahrzeug Diagnose. Coding these clusters needs an SFD token in addition to CP removal. Confirm your workshop has both before ordering a 4K0 or 4N0 unit.

Remote CP removal by FPK KING

We run the ODIS-online session for you through your own diagnostic interface, so the cluster is married to your car without a dealer visit. Price $299 with a cluster, $349 for a cluster bought elsewhere.

  • You need: a VAS 6154 / 6154A-type or VXDIAG interface, a Windows laptop with a stable internet connection, and a battery charger on the car.
  • We connect by remote desktop at an agreed time and clear CP, code the cluster and set the language and layout. Typically 30–60 minutes.
  • Cars from 2020 with SFD: tell us the VIN first so we can confirm the unlock is possible before you pay.
  • We do not change mileage. Units leave us at 0 km and adopt your car's reading when coded.

Retrofitting from an analogue cluster

Going from dials to Virtual Cockpit also needs the right wiring, multifunction steering wheel with View button, and MMI compatibility. Tell us what the car has today and we advise whether the project makes sense before you spend money.

VIN check and quote

Send the VIN and we reply with the unit that fits, its label photo and a price including shipping to your country. Nothing is paid until the match is confirmed.

A VIN has 17 characters and never contains I, O or Q.

  2. We reply with the matching part number, its SW/HW index and photos of the actual unit's label. Shipping to the US, Canada, UK, EU and Australia is already in the price; elsewhere we quote it.

  4. We record the serial, pack the unit in foam and ship by DHL Express or FedEx with insurance and signature on delivery. Tracking is sent the same day.

Questions we get asked

      
Why 0 km on a used cluster?
These units were removed from brand-new cars before the cars were delivered or driven, so the odometer memory is empty. They are sold as used parts because they have been fitted to a vehicle once, but they have never been on the road. A cluster from a driven donor keeps that car's mileage and cannot be rolled back, so 0 km units are the ones workshops want for replacements and retrofits. When the cluster is coded it takes your car's real mileage; we never alter mileage.

      
I am in the US or Canada. Do these fit my car?
The clusters listed here are km/h versions built for Europe and the rest of the world. North American cars use different part numbers with an mph speedometer: 8W5 920 890 (Virtual Cockpit) and 8W5 920 880 (analogue) for the A4 and A5, 4K0 920 890 or 894 for the A6, A7, Q7 facelift and Q8, 4N0 920 890 for the A8, and 4M0 920 870 / 880 / 890 for the Q7 4M. A km/h unit can be coded into a US car, but the speedometer scale is wrong for the market, so we do not recommend it. Send your VIN and we tell you which mph number your car needs and whether we can source it.

      
My analogue cluster failed. Can I replace it with a Virtual Cockpit?
A like-for-like replacement needs the same type of cluster the car was built with. Going from analogue dials to the Virtual Cockpit is a retrofit: the car also needs the matching wiring, the View button on the steering wheel and a compatible MMI unit, and it is usually done by a retrofit specialist. Tell us what is in the car now and we say plainly whether one of our units is a straight replacement.

      
Why does the screen say SAFE CP in your photos?
Because Component Protection is still active. It proves the unit powers on and the display works. Your workshop clears it when the cluster is coded to your car.

      
Can you remove CP or send a coded unit?
A cluster cannot be pre-coded; CP is cleared with the cluster installed in the car. We do that remotely through your VAS 6154-type or VXDIAG interface and a laptop with internet, $299 with a cluster. If you prefer, any Audi dealer can do it in the workshop.

      
The menus in one of your videos are in Chinese. Is that a problem?
No. Language is a coding setting and your workshop switches it to your market during CP removal.

      
How do I know the SW/HW index fits my car?
Send the VIN and a photo of your current cluster's label. We compare suffix and index and tell you which of our units matches, or that none does.

      
What is your warranty and return policy?
Every unit is powered on and filmed before it ships. Dead on arrival or transit damage: tell us within 7 days and we replace or refund, return shipping on us. Any uninstalled, uncoded cluster can be returned within 14 days of delivery, buyer pays return shipping. Clusters that have been coded to a car are bound to that car and are excluded from change-of-mind returns except where your local law says otherwise. Full text: Returns and warranty.

      
How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?
DHL Express or FedEx from China, tracked, insured and signature required. US, Canada, UK, EU and Australia: 3–6 working days, shipping included in the price. Middle East: 4–7 working days, about $60–90. Russia and CIS: courier line only, 10–20 days, quoted per order.

      
Do you give trade prices?
Yes. Workshops and dealers ordering two or more units, or ordering regularly, get trade pricing roughly 20% below the listed price, shipping quoted separately. Ask on WhatsApp with your workshop name.

      
Import duties?
